BBC Breakfast viewers received a surprise this morning after the programme featured a picture of Prince William complete with ‘penis graffiti’.
Presenter Louise Minchin was introducing a trailer about London-based theatre quartet Barbershopera when the unedited clip was accidentally aired.
It included a clip from the official video to their song ‘I could have married Kate’, featuring newspapers and magazines laid out on a coffee table.
One magazine included a picture of the Duke of Cambridge, ‘comically’ altered to show the royal with a pair of glasses and beard.
Eagle-eyed viewer Anthony Walton spotted the mistake and took a grab of the graffiti before posting it on Twitter.
He said: ‘Guessing BBC Breakfast didn’t vet the video clip before they used it this morning.’
Another added: ‘Yup, that’s a penis on Prince William’s head at 8:28am on #BBCBreakfast. Outrageous.’
BBC Breakfast has yet to comment on the incident.
