Nelson Mandela has Died

Nelson Mandela the first black president of South Africa and an anti-apartheid icon Nelson Mandela has died, Eyes and Voice learned – the report was confrimed by present South Africa’s president, Jacob Zuma.

The Great Mandela died at Age 95 in Johannesburg, South Africa on December 5 2013. Eyes and Voice can confirm.

He died surrounded by his family at his Johannesburg home at 8.50 pm local time.

He had been receiving intense home-based medical care for a lung infection after three months in hospital.  See below for the reports while Nelson Mandela was in hospital.

In a statement on South African national TV, Jacob Zuma the current president of South Africa said Mr Mandela had “departed” and was at peace.

“Our nation has lost its greatest son,” Mr Zuma said.

Jacob Zuma went on to say that, Mr Mandela would receive a full state funeral, and flags would be flown at half-mast.

Eyes and Voice learned that Mandela’s body will soon be moved to a mortuary in Pretoria and his funeral will likely take place next Saturday Sunday, 15 December 2013.

Nelson Mandela’s legacy will never be forgotten. He was the one who brought an end apartheid rule – where South Africa was ruled by white-minority and he also delivered his nation from civil war.

“His tireless struggle for freedom earned him the respect of the world. His humility, passion and humanity, earned him their love.” – said Jacob Zuma.

The anti-apartheid icon served as South Africa’s first black president from 1994 to 1999 after spending 27 years in the notorious Robben Island prison for his political activities.

He made his last public appearance in 2010, at the football World Cup in South Africa.

2013 Adminted in hospital for being critically ill. News of his illness reported to being positive on some occasion but most times it was reported his health is in critical conditions.

2013 The world celebrated his 95th birthday while Mandela was still in hospital.
