Microsoft is developing Smart Bra [see full details]
Microsoft is said to be developing mood-detecting Smart Bra, Eyes and Voice has learned.
According to reports, Microsoft researchers have already created a prototype smart bra that is capable of detecting the wearer’s mood.
Eyes and Voice learned that, the accessory uses removable sensors to monitor the user’s heart, skin activities, and delivers the mood data to a companion smartphone app.
The aim of the smart bra is to detect stress and mood changes using the two embedded sensors in the bra to monitor heart and skin activities then transfer the mood data to the wearer via a smartphone app.
Why a bra?
According to Microsoft researchers using a bra “was ideal because it allowed us to collect EKG [electrocardiogram] near the heart”.
Eyes and Voice has learned that attempts to create a similar smart underwear for men and worked less because the sensors located in the underwear is too far from the heart.
As you now know, wearable technology to measure heart rates and conditions has increasingly been made – but with mixed reaction from users.
Meanwhile, just last month saw the release of a Twitter-connected bra, that tweeted every time it was unhooked to encourage women to self-examine their breasts.
And also some students in India made a bra packed with sensors and electronic circuit that is activated when someone attempts to grope a woman wearing it – this was in the response to the series of reported rapes in the country.
