Arsene Wenger is a “specialist in failure”, Jose Mourinho said
According to Jose Mourinho, Arsene Wenger is a “specialist in failure”
Eyes and Voice can tell you that the tittle race war has just began…
During a press conference today, Jose Mourinho, the Chelsea boss responded to the Arsenal manager’s claim that other Premier League bosses are playing down their title chances because they “fear to fail”.
When asked, Mourinho replied, saying: “If he is right and I am afraid of failure it is because I didn’t fail many times. Eight years without silverware, that’s failure.”
Jose Mourinho continued: “He’s [Arsene Wenger] a specialist in failure,”. “If I do that in Chelsea, eight years, I leave and don’t come back.”
This comments by Mourinho as sparked a lot of talks around online even with other sports executives giving their view on the incident.
“He’s won trophies galore all over the world, playing delightful football.
“Yes, Wenger hasn’t won anything for a number of years, but he hasn’t, until very recently, had the budget of others. Club is in great shape.”
The war between Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger
This is not the first time that both bosses has gone into war with their words.
In August 2005, Wenger talking about Chelsea’s tactics, he said: “I know we live in a world where we have only winners and losers, but once a sport encourages teams who refuse to take the initiative, the sport is in danger.”
October 2005, after Wenger criticised Chelsea’s transfer policy, Jose Mourinho stated: “I think he is one of these people who is a voyeur. He likes to watch other people. There are some guys who, when they are at home, have a big telescope to see what happens in other families. He speaks, speaks, speaks about Chelsea.”
Also in November 2005, after Mourinho called Wenger a “voyeur”, Winger stated at a press conference about Mourinho: “He’s out of order, disconnected with reality and disrespectful. When you give success to stupid people, it makes them more stupid sometimes.”
In November 2007, Mourinho talking about Wenger’s policies at Arsenal: “Unlike Arsenal, we sought success and tried to build it through a concept of the game using English players.”
I am sure this is one of the mind games that helps these managers on the title race but someone need to keep them apart form each other.
