Jermain Jackman has been crowned the winner of The Voice UK 2014!

The Hackney based singer who was a part of Team Will.i.am beat fellow finalists and favourites Christina Marie and Sally Barker to become the shows first male winner.

Throughout the course of the evening he wowed audiences with his renditions of ‘Wrecking Ball’‘Pure Imagination’and ‘And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going’.

Following his surprise victory he was quick to show his appreciation for his star coach saying: “I want to thank Will for everything he’s done for me over the past few months. He’s been the best coach ever. I want to thank God for providing me with this opportunity and all the opportunities I’ve had.”

Afterwards he added that this experience ”is not just an achievement for me, but an achievement for everyone in the UK who has had a dream and worked hard to achieve that dream, I want them to know that if you work hard for your dream you will achieve it,”.

An emotional Will.i.am said to his winning team member that “I hope you know that this victory is more than just you singing. This is direction and guidance for the rest of your life.”

Jermain will now receive a £100,000 recording contract with Universal and is expected to release his debut album later this year.
