Gwen Stefani Joining The Voice + New Music?

Gwen Stefani Eyes and Voice

Just a week after her surprise on stage appearance at Coachella with Pharrell Williams, it looks like the No Doubt singer will be joining her friend on season 7 of The Voice later this year!

Ever since regular coach Christina Aguilera confirmed her pregnancy, rumours had been circulating about who would sit in for her when the hit singing competition returns for its fall season. Now reports suggest that it will be Gwen Stefani who just gave birth to her third child this February. It wouldn’t be the first time that the ‘Hollaback Girl‘ singer had offered her advice to talent hopefuls, she had previously been a mentor on American Idol back in 2007 and The X Factor UK in 2012.

As well as being the lead vocalist for the Grammy award winning band No Doubt she has also carved out a successful solo career, releasing two multi platinum albums ‘Love.Angel.Music.Baby‘ in 2004 and ‘The Sweet Escape‘ in 2006. She then took a brief hiatus to focus on her family before returning to her band and releasing their sixth studio album ‘Push and Shove‘ in 2012. Away from music she also has a successful fashion line called ‘L.A.M.B.‘ which is being sold in 275 stores worldwide, and became a spokesperson for L’Oréal Paris in 2011.

Hits Daily Double has also suggested that new music is in the works as well, whether this is a new No Doubt record or solo album is yet to be confirmed. Gwen Stefani had previously stated that she no longer wanted to release solo material and wanted to focus all her musical efforts into her band. But with the group on yet another hiatus as of 2014, maybe Gwen will capitalize on the exposure that The Voice will give her and release music in some form or another? With the surprise performance with Pharrell last week and with them working on The Voice together, one would have to ask whether they are collaborating again? In the past they had teamed up for hit records such as ‘Hollaback Girl‘, ‘Can I Have It Like That‘ and ‘Wind It Up‘ which all went top 10 around the world.

The Voice season 7 auditions start taping in June with Pharrell Williams replacing Cee-Lo Green and original coaches Adam Levine and Blake Shelton also expected to return as well. Whilst Gwen Stefani will be filling in this season, Christina Aguilera is scheduled to return to the hit franchise sometime next year. The current season of The Voice is currently in its play off stages with rotating coaches Usher and Shakira back for their second series.
