Nicole Scherzinger: Will Her Solo Career Finally Breakthrough?
As the lead singer of one of the most successful girl groups of all time, Nicole Scherzinger (and The Pussycat Dolls) gave the world pop anthems such as ‘Don’t Cha‘, ‘Buttons‘ and ‘When I Grow Up‘.
As the most prominent member of the group many people presumed that solo success would follow due to her incredible vocals, impressive dance moves and her stunning looks.
She more or less has everything it takes to becoming a major pop (solo) superstar, but so far this hasn’t appeared to be the case…
She first tried her luck at solo fame in 2007 with the shelved album ‘Her Name Is Nicole‘, which brought us singles such as ‘Whatever U Like‘ and ‘Baby Love‘.
Even with performances at the 2007 ‘American Music Awards‘, ‘MTV Video Music Awards’ and the ‘MTV Europe Music Awards‘, very little success came out of that venture.
Due to that she quickly returned the her group and achieved more success with their album ‘Doll Domination’.
The Pussycat Dolls later split in 2010 and finally Nicole released her debut album ‘Killer Love‘ internationally.
To her credit she has achieved various levels of solo success in the UK, with a number of top ten singles including the number one ‘Don’t Hold Your Breath‘.
Much of her British success has been linked to her stint as a judge on ‘The X Factor‘ and her relationship with British Formula One racing driver Lewis Hamilton.
Nevertheless there has always been a mystery regarding why her star is not bigger, especially in the United States.
Aside from a feature on the Diddy hit ‘Come to Me‘, Nicole has never achieved solo success over there despite many publicity campaigns including a winning performance on season ten of ‘Dancing with the Stars‘.
Even with appearances as a judge on ‘The Sing-Off‘, ‘The X Factor USA‘ and a role in ‘Men in Black 3′, the U.S. public are just not connecting with her in the same way she did as a member of the dolls.
But Nicole shows no signs of giving up, she is back with a new single called ‘Your Love‘ which has been written and produced by The-Dream and Tricky Stewart.
These are the men behind hits such as Beyoncé’s ‘Single Ladies’, Rihanna’s ‘Umbrella‘ and Mariah Carey’s ‘Touch My Body‘.
Surely that means she’s onto a winning formula?
Whilst its too early to tell yet, we can only hope that it is one for Nicole!
With no more talent show judging commitments in both America and in the UK., she is now free to fully commit herself to her recording career.
Alongside that there is something about Nicole that tells us that she will not go down without a fair shot at worldwide solo stardom…
Let’s hope that it is truly third time lucky for the talented singer!
