Jay Z and Mariah Carey has launched new beverages through Duane Reade and Walgreens.

The rapper and the songstress new beverages will be distributed by Go N’Syde and you can find the drinks at 7,500 Duane Reade and Walgreens stores.

Jay Z  who is always open for partnership – from his collaboration with Kanye West, Justin Timberlake and the much publicised $5 million album partnership with Samsung earlier this year, the music and business mogul is a “serial collaborator”.

As well as the 99 problem rapper is currently gearing for a joint ‘On The Run’ tour with wife Beyonce, news has reached Eyes and Voice that Jay Z and Mariah Carey has launched new beverages ventures in partnership with former Def Jam chief Kevin Liles’ Go N’Syde, Duane Reade and Walgreens stores.

Jay and Carey are both going for a different brand – Both artist have their own specific flavour and targeted market.

Jay Z’s is an Arnold Palmer-esque drink called 40/40, naming it after his sports club of the same name – according to reports the drink is intended for sports-loving males.

On the other hand, Mariah Carey’s is a pink concoction called Butterfly, (dubbed after her 1997 record of same name)and it is aimed at young to middle-aged women.

The drinks are available at Duane Reade and Walgreens, and are available for $1.99 a bottle, Eyes and Voice learned.

According to Kevin Liles, the beverages which was launched in late May, are currently moving at a pace of 1,000 bottles a week, EyesandVoice.com understands.

Each bottle, retailing for $1.99, also includes an augmented reality tie-in that allows customers to point a smartphone at the container and call up a content platform connected to each act.

In a statement, Carey stated about the new venture saying: “I never dreamed that I could have an interactive experience with my fans while drinking my own beverage,”

“The whole concept is innovative and refreshing and the drink is beyond.”
