Jay Z - Magna Carta Holy Grail Album Celebrates Its One Year Anniversary. Eyes and Voice

Magna Carta Holy Grail is excatly one year old today, Last year (2013) on July 4, Jay Z made headlines, froze almost all social networks and brought the music world to a halt when he dropped his 12th solo album ‘Magna Carta… Holy Grail’.

Jay Z made more headlines with the marketing strategy surrounding the release of the album, than the content of the album (MCHG) – that’s not talking anything away from the album because it’s a great album.

The 16-track LP’s revolutionary release sees Jay Z agree to unprecedented deal with Samsung worth $5 million. Jay made Magna Carta… Holy Grail available for free to Samsung Galaxy users and earned himself a platinum plaque from the RIAA before the album was released to everyone and traditional retail outlets some days later.

The album contained 16 very well crafted songs, Jay rapped about a wide range of topics – ranging from racism and classism on ‘Oceans’ assisted by Frank Ocean, to his love of arts on ‘Picasso Baby’, the pressure of fame on the Justin Timberlake assisted ‘Holy Grail’, other big club hits like ‘Tom Ford’ and ‘F—withmeyouknowigotit’ featuring Rick Ross, and then on ‘Jay Z Blue’ the father to 2-year-old Blue Ivy tackled the struggles of being a new father and husband.

Some of the producers that worked with Jay Z on Magna Carta Holy Grail (MCHG) includes; Timbaland, long-time friend and collaborator, Pharrell, The Dream, Swizz Beats and many more…
