2014 MTV Video Music Awards Nominations Revealed

MTV has today unveiled the list of nominees for this years Video Music Awards.

Leading the pack with eight nominations is Beyoncé who has received nods for her videos ‘Pretty Hurts‘, ‘Partition‘ and ‘Drunk in Love‘.

Drunk in Love‘ will be fighting it out against ‘Wrecking Ball‘ (Miley Cyrus), ‘Happy‘ (Pharrell Williams), ‘Chandelier’ (Sia) and ‘Fancy‘ (Iggy Azalea ft. Charlie XCX) for the prestigious Video of the Year award.

Meanwhile Eminem received seven nominations spilt between the videos for ‘The Monster‘ and ‘Rap God‘.

Iggy Azalea also celebrates with a total of seven nominations for her work on her lead single ‘Fancy‘ and her collaboration with Ariana Grande for the video ‘Problem‘.

Pharrell Williams will also be happy (sorry!) with three nominations for the ‘Happy‘ video, which recently won Video of the Year at this years BET Awards. He also shares an additional fourth nomination with Ed Sheeran in the Best Male Video category for ‘Sing‘.

As should Ariana Grande who will will make her VMA debut this year with three nominations.

Notable snubs include Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Nicki Minaj, Jennifer Lopez, One Direction (unless MTV creates a category for them again…) and Shakira who all released buzz-worthy videos this past year.
