Only recently U.S Rapper Nicki Minaj teased her followers on Instagram with the release of her new anticipated single ‘Anaconda’, which could of been purchased today on iTunes. However the star decided to push back the single to the 8th of August. She shared: “My darlingz, I’ve pushed the release of Anaconda to next week, Monday 8/4. I promise you will understand why before the week is out. Loveeeeeeee uuuuuu.”
Baring that in mind, amongst other things, she previously posted Anaconda’s CD cover which featured a revealing (hardly surprising) scantily clad dressed Nicki. The Rapper who was sporting blue trainers, a pink training bra, and a small thong which was embedded between her well known cakes, cooked up a storm of reactions.
So instead of focusing on the music which sampled the memorable ‘Time After Time’ by Cyndi Lauper, the concentration was elsewhere. As usual reactions varied, with most female celebs in the industry flashing remnants of skin, it’s safe to suggest followers were still slightly shocked. This didn’t stop the onslaught of creative, or possibly bored individuals making hilarious edits of Nicki’s behind which found its way to her account. Leaving no stone unturned, pictures included contact from E.T, licks from SpongeBob SquarePants, iconic monuments, divine interventions, Disney spoofs, and lastly a cameo from Drake. With more then ten different edits the star added: “IG HAS NO CHILL.”
On a not-so-light note some had branded the risque picture as ‘unacceptable’ and tasteless. Yet the 31-year-old had only few choice words for her 6.7 million followers. She then posted pictures of various models in two-piece swimsuits, where their derrieres seem to favour the shot. Captioning them as “ACCEPTABLE” and “ANGELIC”; John Legend’s wife Chrissy Teigen was amongst these faces as they displayed their less-than-covered figures.
People brought up many factors such as slimmer models, or race as reasons behind why others may find Nicki’s picture offensive. She again went to post her single cover, and captioned it as “UNACCEPTABLE lol.” But, hold up! These females are wearing the same amount of clothing, some less than others, so do people believe that the context in which the clothing is conveyed decides whether it’s tasteful or not? Nicki’s point was well received and yet others thought she was being plain ole childish.
Hmmm. Was she making a point, throwing intended shade or is it just being tactical with promotion for her iTunes release? Either way social media is talking about Minaj’s posterior…again.
Oh and here’s another one!
