Can Gwen Stefani & Fergie Reclaim Their Pop Crowns?

Can Gwen Stefani & Fergie Reclaim Their Pop Crowns?

Fergie & Gwen

So this fall we see the return of two pop favourites and artists that have shared similar paths in their long careers.

Both Gwen Stefani and Fergie will be dropping new music within a matter of weeks and they will no doubt (that was not intentional…) create a buzz within the pop community.

As well as her duties on ‘The Voice‘ Gwen’s new single ‘Baby Don’t Lie‘ will be sent to radio on October 6, whilst Fergie’s new track ‘L.A.Love (La La)‘ will receive its first spins on September 30.

The two singers appear to have a lot in common, their both from California, both signed to Interscope, both started their mainstream careers as the sole female singer in their bands and they have both shared considerable solo acclaim and success.

Gwen’s 2004 solo release ‘Love.Angel.Music.Baby‘ sold over seven million copies worldwide and featured the classic number one ‘Hollaback Girl‘. Fergie’s 2006 debut ‘The Duchess‘ also sold similar numbers and featured multiple number ones including ‘London Bridge‘ and ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry‘.

Both ladies have taken time off recently to focus on their personal lives and raising a family.

What will be interesting to see now however is how they can make an impact in the pop industry against todays favourites including Beyoncé, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj, Ariana Grande and even Iggy Azalea.

Whilst both women can be seen as veterans in the industry, we all know how cut throat the business can be regarding older (if you can say that…) females in both their image and the amount of airplay they can receive.

But for now let’s just see wait until both singles premiere before we can really decide on whether or not they can become pop forces once again?
