MOBO Awards 2014: Sam Smith Wins Big

The 2014 MOBO (Music of Black Origin) Awards took place last night and it was a big success for Sam Smith!

The ‘Stay With Me‘ singer won a total of four awards including Best Male, Best R&B/Soul Act, Best Song and Best Album. He later dedicate his win to his fans saying,

This is truly a dream come true. It feels amazing. I hardly ever win awards and I never got awards in school for anything so it is really surreal for me to have [all these] in one day.

This years ceremony returned to London and took place at the SSE Arena Wembley and was hosted by Sarah-Jane Crawford and current ‘X Factor‘ judge Mel B.

Other big winners of the night included Jessie J for Best Female, Beyoncé for Best International and Ella Eyre for Best Newcomer. Idris Elba was also the recipient of the Inspiration Award. The event featured performances from the likes of Jessie J, Professor Green, Ella Eyre, Nicole Scherzinger and Jeremih.

Best Album: Sam Smith

Inspiration Award: Idris Elba
