Mariah Carey Signs Las Vegas Residency Deal

Mariah Vegas EV

Mariah is heading to Vegas!

The legendary singer took to ‘The Ellen Degeneres Show‘ to confirm the news which had been rumoured for a number of weeks.

The show will take place at the Colosseum in Caesars Palace and is to being inspired by Mariah’s 1998 release ‘#1’s‘.

As many people will know Mariah holds the record for the most number ones by a solo artist in the United States with 18, her first being ‘Vision of Love‘ in 1990 and most recent being ‘Touch My Body‘ in 2008.

This will not be the first time Mariah has played to Colosseum either. She has played shows at the venue in both 2003 for her Charmbracelet Tour and in 2010 for her Angels Advocate Tour.

It has been said that Mariah’s deal came about due to the free space that is available at Colosseum since Celine Dion postponed future shows in order to take care of her family. Also Country music superstar Shania Twain recently wrapped up her successful residency ‘Still the One‘ at the venue last December.

Mariah now joins Britney Spears (who performs at Planet Hollywood) as another headliner down the Vegas strip. Rumour has it Jennifer Lopez will also be announcing plans to start her own residency show in the near future.

Hopefully this will be a good career move for Mariah as performing in Vegas can be quite demanding. In many ways this could be the confidence boost Mariah needs when it comes to performing and it will give her an opportunity to get even closer to her fans.

However Vegas shows offer a different perspective when it comes to entertainment. Fans want to see a big spectacular both vocally and visually and it will be interesting to see Mariah rise to the occasion.

Best of luck Mariah!
