So the Grammys have come and gone and this year the big winner was Sam Smith.

The British singer took home four awards including Best New Artist, Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album for ‘In the Lonely Hour‘.

Beyoncé, Pharrell Williams and Roseanne Cash followed behind Sam with three wins each.

Beyoncé won in the categories for Best R&B Song and Best R&B Performance for her hit ‘Drunk in Love‘ while her self-titled release also took home the award for Best Surround Sound Album.

Pharrell Williams (somehow) managed to overcome Beyoncé in the Best Urban Contemporary Album for  ‘G I R L‘, and as predicted he took him the Best Music Video prize and his live rendition of ‘Happy‘ collected the Best Pop Solo Performance trophy.

After losing seven times last year the Grammys made up for it by giving Kendrick Lamar two awards, one for  Best Rap Song and the other for Best Rap Performance for ‘I‘.

Toni Braxton & Babyface were the deserving winners in the Best R&B Album field for their excellent release ‘Love, Marriage & Divorce‘.

Christina Aguilera and Lady Gaga returned to the Grammys good side by taking home trophies for their high profile collaborations. ‘Say Something‘ fought of stiff competition in the Best Pop/Duo Group Performance category, while ‘Cheek to Cheek‘ by Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett triumphed with the Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album.

In what was seen as one of the most open field Album of the Year battles ever, Beck managed to take home the prestigious award for ‘Morning Phase‘. For serious Grammy predictors his win came as no surprise but nonetheless it was disappointing to see ‘Beyoncé‘ miss out on the gong.

Kanye West was so ‘upset’ with Beck’s win he jokingly approached the stage in the same way he did at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards when Taylor Swift also beat Beyoncé… oh Kanye!
