Well the rumours were once again true and now it’s official! ‘The X Factor‘ UK has officially signed up radio DJ Nick Grimshaw and singer Rita Ora as the two new judges to this years panel.

They will join fellow judges Simon Cowell and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini for the shows twelfth series which has already seen a number of changes.

It had previously been announced that Olly Murs & Caroline Flack will be replacing long-running host Dermot O’Leary when the show returns this summer and that the room auditions have been replaced (again) with the arena ones.

Speaking on his signing, Nick mentions that “I love X Factor and have watched the series religiously since it started, so obviously I’m hugely excited to be joining the show.

Music is my job and my passion and I’m really looking forward to seeing what talent we can find and nurture this year. I can’t wait for Judges’ Houses in Oldham!

Rita, who was just earlier this year a coach on ‘The Voice UK‘ was previously as guest judge on the series in 2012 and mentions that ”This is a journey I can’t wait to embark on to find some talented singers. It’s the new generation taking over. Boom!

The duo have already received the sign of approval from their fellow judges with Simon and Cheryl taking to social to share their excitement for their new colleagues.

With Louis Walsh, Mel B and Dermot O’Leary now departed, ‘The X Factor‘ faces huge pressure to live up to expectations ahead of its 2015 premiere. With the show focused on dethroning ‘Strictly Come Dancing‘ as the highest rated talent show, it will be interesting to see if this incarnation of the competition will triumph later this year…
