Kanye West To Receive MTV Video Vanguard Award
The 2015 MTV Video Music Awards are to take place in Los Angeles this Sunday (August 30) and organisers have now added more star power to the event by announcing that Kanye West will receive this years Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
The award serves as a Lifetime Achievement recognition for artists who have had a profound effect on the MTV culture over the years.
Kanye seems to be fair choice this year thanks to his ground-breaking videos such as ‘All Falls Down‘, ‘Jesus Walks‘, ‘Gold Digger‘, ‘Stronger‘, ‘Runaway‘, ‘All of the Lights‘, ‘Otis‘ and the controversial ‘Bound 2‘.
West also has a rich history with the award show whether it’s down to past performances in 2004, 2007, 2008, 2011 and 2013 or for that Taylor Swift incident in 2009…
News on who will be presenting Kanye with the award or whether he will be performing live has yet to be confirmed.
Either way he has tough footsteps to follow in thanks to the high standards set by past honourees such as Justin Timberlake in 2013 and Beyoncé last year.
Hosted by Miley Cyrus, this years most nominated artist is Taylor Swift with 10 nominations. The show is scheduled to have live performances from the likes of The Weeknd, Demi Lovato, Pharrell Williams and newcomer Tori Kelly.
