Biopics are being made left right and centre nowadays and now it’s time for another R&B superstar to get in on the act!

Grammy Award-winning Toni Braxton is now poised to have a television movie (on Lifetime of course…) based on her multi-platinum selling career and the controversies that have followed it.

The movie is rumoured to be titled ‘Un-Break My Heart‘ which is obviously a nod to her signature hit and the memoir she published last year.

There is no word on who will play Toni but there is small speculation that the ‘Breathe Again‘ singer could play herself…

There is no doubt that a Toni Braxton movie could bring entertainment and drama. The high points could celebrate her number one singles, finding love, having children and working with the greats. But the low points would also cover her two bankruptcies, her ill health, family heartbreak and the trials and tribulations of the music industry.

Lifetime’s most recent biopic covering a musical legend was the Angela Bassett-directed ‘Whitney‘ starring Yaya DaCosta. The movie which mostly covered the early relationship between Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown received mixed reviews when it premiered earlier this year. Lifetime also produced the critically-panned ‘Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B‘ last November and the less said about that the better!

This movie could be a good move for Toni (who currently stars with her sisters in their hit reality TV series ‘Braxton Family Values‘) as it could open up her story to a younger generation and if done right could bring across her perspective on what truly happened during the ups and downs of her life and career. So let’s watch this space and see how this TV biopic develops…
