Chris Rock To Host 88th Academy Awards
It has been announced that Chris Rock will be hosting the 88th Academy Awards in early 2016. This will mark the second time he has presented the ceremony, with his previous turn being back in 2005.
His first stint was met with some controversy, most notably with his Jude Law overexposed joke which quickly left an unimpressed Sean Penn to jump to Jude’s defence live on air…
Speaking on his return to the ceremony the comedian said,
“I’m so glad to be hosting the Oscars, it’s good to be back.”
Oscar producers David Hill and Reginald Hudlin were also equally thrilled with their decision noting that,
“Chris Rock is truly the MVP of the entertainment industry, comedian, actor, writer, producer, director, documentarian – he’s done it all. He’s going to be a phenomenal Oscar host!”
This years ceremony was hosted by Neil Patrick Harris and garner 37 million viewers in the United States.
Chris Rock is no stranger to hosting awards ceremonies. Aside from being an Oscar host he has also gone down a storm as the host of three separate MTV Video Music Awards (1997, 1999, 2003) and the 2014 BET Awards.
The 88th Annual Academy Awards will take place live on February 28th 2016 on ABC.
