73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards: Full List of Winners

Award season is now officially underway and leave it to the Hollywood Foreign Press to start things of with a bang and the occasional head scratch…

The Revenant‘ and ‘The Martian‘ both had good nights being named Best Motion Picture Drama and Musical/Comedy respectively. The films leading men Leonardo DiCaprio and Matt Damon were also named Best Actors in their genre categories.

Kate Winslet collected Best Supporting Actress for ‘Steve Jobs‘, giving her a grand career total of four Golden Globes. Sylvester Stallone won his very first Golden Globe for his supporting work in the motion picture ‘Creed‘, it was his first nomination at the award show since 1977!

The Globes sure do love Jennifer Lawrence! She collected her third consecutive Globe for her performance in ‘Joy‘. In the Musical/Comedy Actress category she beat of competition for comedy veterans such as Lily Tomlin, Melissa McCarthy, Amy Schumer and even the legend that is Dame Maggie Smith!

It was a good night for Sam Smith as well, his song ‘Writings on the Wall‘ from the James Bond movie ‘Spectre‘ was named Best Original Song. He follows in the same footsteps as Adele three years ago when she also for a 007 theme song for ‘Skyfall‘.

One of the many things the Globes is known for is its love of rewarding all things shiny and new on television.

For example USA’s ‘Mr. Robot‘ was named Best Drama Series and Amazon’s ‘Mozart in the Jungle‘ was named Best Musical or Comedy series.

Rachel Bloom beat of comedy heavyweights such as Lily Tomlin, Jamie Lee Curtis and Julia Louis-Dreyfus to be named Best Actress in a Comedy Series for her work on ‘Crazy Ex-Girlfriend‘. This marks the second year in a row that a comedy on The CW has won a Golden Globe… better late than never I guess?

We just knew that the Hollywood Foreign Press wouldn’t be able to resist rewarding Lady Gaga for her work on ‘American Horror Story: Hotel‘. Was it the best performance? Who are we to judge but we saw this win coming as soon as the nominees were announced.

Taraji P. Henson deservedly won the Best TV Drama Actress for her role as Cookie Lyon on ‘Empire‘. The actress was so overwhelmed by her win that she decided to hand out actual cookies as she walk to the stage!

Jon Hamm received more farewell love for his work on ‘Mad Men‘ as he collected to the Best TV Drama Actor award for the first time since 2007.
