David’s official social media accounts also confirmed the news saying,
“January 10 2016 – David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer.
“While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief.”
While the term ”iconic” and ”legend” may be used loosely today, David Bowie was with out a doubt one of the most groundbreaking and iconic music superstars that ever lived. His music and images inspired a generation of artists and his influence continues to be noted by many of todays top performers and entertainers.
Just last Friday (January 8) David released his twenty-sixth studio album ‘Blackstar‘ which served as a follow-up to his 2013 comeback album ‘The Next Day‘.
The star had been living a relatively quiet life over the years and made rare public appearances. His final world tour took place over a decade ago.
He now leaves behind his wife, model Iman and his two children Duncan (with ex-wife Angie) and Alexandria (his only child with Iman).
EyesandVoice would like to send out our condolences to the Bowie family. He was a man that left a great impact and legacy on many people around the world and his influence will continue to pass on through many musical generations!
